Death

1. Neither death nor deception comes to the onw, within whose minds
the Lord abides. (Guru Granth Sahib, 8)

2. They are liberated, those who meditate on the Lord. For them,
the cycle of birth and death is eliminated. (Guru Granth Sahib, 11)

3. Life and death come to all who are born. Everything here gets
devoured by death. (Guru Granth Sahib, 15)

4. Know the state of your inner being; meet with the Guru and get
rid of your skepticism. To reach your True Home after you die, you
must conquer death while you are still alive. (Guru Granth Sahib, 21)

5. Says Nanak, you will have to walk on the path of death, so why
do you bother to collect wealth and property? (Guru Granth Sahib, 24)

6. The day dawns, and then it ends, and the night passes away.
Mortal's life is diminishing, but he does not understand. Each day,
the mouse of death is gnawing on the rope of life. (Guru Granth Sahib, 41)

7. Through the Guru's Teachings, you shall be enlightened; remain
absorbed in the Love of the True Lord. Death does not exist there;
your light shall merge with the Light. (Guru Granth Sahib, 55)

8. Listen, O deluded and demented mind: hold tight to the Guru's
Feet. Chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of God; death will be
afraid of you, and suffering shall depart. (Guru Granth Sahib, 57)

9. In an instant, one is born, and in an instant, one dies. In an
instant one comes, and in an instant one goes. One who recognizes the
Shabad and merges into it, is not afflicted by death. (Guru Granth
Sahib, 58)

10. Those who serve the Truthful True Guru are shown the True Path.
Reflecting on the True Word of the Shabad, One overcomes death. (Guru
Granth Sahib, 149)

11. While rising up, and while lying down in sleep, the Lord is
always with you, watching over you. Remembering Him in meditation, the
fear of Death departs. (Guru Granth Sahib, 196)

12. Like the swan on the lake, death hovers over the body. Kabeer
says, drink the Lord's sweet nectar (meditate on God). (Guru Granth
Sahib, 325)

13. You commit innumerable sins due to you fake desire deceived by
Maya. Your body shall become a pile of dust; death will eventually
conquer you. Abandoning your wealth and youth, you will have to leave,
without any food or clothing. Nanak says, only your actions shall go
with you; the consequences of your actions cannot be erased. (Guru
Granth Sahib, 459)

14. Laughing, the death hovers over his head but mortal does not
understand. Entangled in conflict, pleasure and egotism, he does not
even think of death. So serve your True Guru; why wander around
miserable and unfortunate? You gaze upon the transitory, beautiful
safflower, but why do you get attached to it? You commit sins again
and again, to gather wealth to spend. But your dust shall mix with
dust; you shall arise and depart naked. (Guru Granth Sahib, 809)
